On the 16th May 2017 Rutland County Council granted planning permission for 75 new homes in Uppingham, the first phase of Bloor Homes’ development off Leicester Road to the west of the town centre.
The approved plans included new green open space and a new mix of house types to reflect the character of the area.
It is hoped that construction work for Phase 1 will start on site in November 2017 with a sales launch in February 2018 and the show home opening April 2018. Bloor Homes hopes to have the first residents moving in during the Summer of 2018.
The development will help meet Rutland County Council’s current need for housing and also accord with Uppingham’s Neighbourhood Plan as a location supported for new housing.
An agreement has been reached with Uppingham Town Council to bring forward the second phase of the development for an additional 29 new homes, bringing the total to 104. Overall, a total of 32 of these new homes will be provided as affordable housing for rent and shared ownership.
Uppingham Town Council expressed its support for bringing forward Phase 2 (from post-2026) at its Full Council meeting held on 1st March 2017. This decision was taken to secure build continuity and to reduce any long-term disruption during the construction of the site. The decision also allows much-needed new homes for Uppingham to come forward over the next few years rather than after 2026.
Bloor Homes has now submitted a new planning application to Rutland County Council for the additional 29 new dwellings with a range of house types including detached, semi-detached and terraced homes, as well as maisonettes and semi-detached bungalows.
The Bloor Group began building houses over 45 years ago. Today it is one of the largest privately owned house building groups in the UK, building more than 2,000 new homes each year from one-bedroom apartments to seven-bedroom luxury detached properties.
Bloor Homes is currently developing sites across England and Wales including sites in the East Midlands at Anstey, Etwall, Mapperley and Shepshed.
